About this expansion

Vindication: Chronicles is a narrative-focused expansion for Vindication, supporting 1–5 players and games of about 90 minutes. Released in 2023, it deepens the existing experience with story-driven decisions, personal progression, and changing events across the island.

Whenever you gain a card—such as a companion, relic, trait, monster, or pet—another player draws and reads a chronicle card. Each card presents a narrative prompt and a decision describing how you obtained that addition to your tableau. As your collection grows, these choices record the story of your journey.

Your decisions are tracked on new, large, full-color paper player sheets. Consistently embodying a particular attribute can make you legendary for that attribute, rewarding you with a powerful new ability and a striking tarot card to place beside your wretch tile.

Alongside your personal story, the island faces global events that demand attention. An event may prevent anyone from visiting an inn until bandits are driven away, while strange mists can make travel along the map’s edge more perilous. Dozens of unique events change the conditions of play until someone resolves them and claims a substantial reward.

With its blend of narrative choices, evolving character identity, and island-wide challenges, Vindication: Chronicles adds immersion and variety to the Vindication experience. Every new card can become part of your legend, while every event creates another problem to overcome.
