About this board game

Warhammer: Invasion is a two-player card game for a 45-minute battle of warfare, kingdom management, and epic questing, first released in 2009.

Players construct decks and draw cards to develop their forces, gather resources, complete quests, and attack the opposing capital. Cards may represent units such as monsters or heroes, one-off spells and abilities, or permanent buildings, devices, and equipment.

Each player protects a three-zone capital: the Kingdom Zone, Quest Zone, and Battlefield. Where a card is played determines its role. Units and buildings in the Kingdom Zone increase your resource pool, cards in the Quest Zone contribute to card draws, and cards in the Battlefield support attacks against the enemy.

Units in a zone under attack can defend that section, creating a constant balance between developing your economy, pursuing quests, launching assaults, and protecting your capital. If an opponent deals enough damage to burn a capital section, and two sections are burned, that player loses.

Choose a faction with its own style, from the indestructible, grudge-bearing Dwarfs and shrewd Empire to the savage Orcs and mutating forces of Chaos. Players can also craft an alliance around the combined forces of Order or Destruction.

  • Core set: 220 cards, four Capital Boards, 35 Resource Tokens, and 60 Damage Tokens.
  • Living Card Game model: expansion contents are fully known, so rarity is not a factor.
  • Additional content: Battle Pack cycles and deluxe expansions broaden the card pool and faction options.

With its zone-based card placement and tactical capital system, Warhammer: Invasion makes every card serve both an immediate purpose and a broader strategic plan.
