About this board game
Warriors & Traders is a turn-based strategy game for 2–6 players, set in Dark Ages Europe, with games lasting around 120 minutes. Players begin as rulers of small countries and seek to develop them into powerful empires through careful planning and resource management.
There is no luck in Warriors & Traders: the game uses neither dice nor unforeseen events. Players spend Actions to advance their countries’ technologies, Production, Trade, and Military, tracking development on separate play-mats.
Expansion and defense are central to the struggle. Players build armies to conquer new provinces, construct forts to protect their territories, and harvest or trade for the resources needed to support their plans. The game supports both alliances and free-for-all play, offering different ways to approach the contest for victory.
- Develop technologies, Production, Trade, and Military.
- Harvest and trade for resources.
- Build armies to fight enemy players and the Barbarians on the map.
- Construct forts and expand by conquering new provinces.
- Play in alliances or compete in a free-for-all system.
Victory points can come from fighting enemy players or Barbarians, building forts, and trading. The player or alliance with the most Victory points wins. A game ends after a maximum of 10 turns or when one or more players meet the victory conditions, depending on the player count and game type.
Most components are language independent. The play-mats are in English, while the Info cards are printed in English, Dutch, French, and German; the rulebook is available in English and electronic formats in six additional languages.
