About this board game

West Story: A Town Building Game is a Wild West town-building game for 2–4 players, with an approximate play time of 100 minutes. Players purchase cards for their player boards, seeking to improve their available actions and earn the most victory points.

Each round begins with the sheriff rolling two dice. The result determines which two cards each player activates on their board. Activated cards are marked and cannot repeat until their row is reset, creating an action system where careful placement matters.

If the indicated card is already marked in a later round, the player activates the first available card to its right. When every card in a row is blocked, all markers are removed from that row and the cycle begins again. Since the order in which actions are eventually executed is not always easy to predict, players must plan their tableau to make the most of every opportunity.

  • Purchase cards to develop your player board.
  • Use dice-driven activation to execute town actions.
  • Activate additional cards when opportunities arise.
  • Trade with nearby towns while advancing along the score track.
  • Face a villain in some towns and build a valuable final collection.

During the game, players may activate extra cards to gain additional resources and possibilities. Moving along the score track also brings players to regions with nearby towns, where trading offers another way to manage the tableau and score points—although some encounters may involve facing a villain.

At the end of West Story, the winner is the player who has collected the best set of cards featuring buildings, animals, and scoring symbols. Every purchase and placement contributes to the evolving plan for your frontier town.
