About this expansion

EuroFront: War in Europe, 1939-45 is a supplementary rules system for 2–6 players that combines the Front games into one sprawling game covering the European theater of World War II. A session can last around 600 minutes, offering a broad campaign experience based on Columbia Games’ block system.

EuroFront provides rules for linking EastFront: The War in Russia, 1941-45, WestFront: The War in Europe, 1943-45, and MedFront: War in North Africa 1940-43. It may also incorporate the VolgaFront: East of EastFront 1942-43 expansion. Additional units represent neutral and minor powers in Europe, expanding the scope of the connected games.

  • Rules connect multiple Front games into a unified European theater.
  • Neutral and minor powers receive units for the wider conflict.
  • Political rules allow minor powers to react to events and create non-historical outcomes.
  • Hidden unit details and rotating blocks support fog of war and strength tracking.

The system uses upright wooden blocks rather than traditional counters. Unit details are shown on only one side, so opponents cannot easily identify a block’s type or current strength without relying on memory. Rotating a block places its current strength on top, keeping damage and changing unit capability visible without extensive bookkeeping.

Because blocks provide four strength positions, EuroFront can track more detail than counters with only two sides. This combination of concealed information, flexible strength management, and linked campaigns adds depth while keeping the rules system relatively streamlined. Released in 1995, EuroFront is part of the EuroFront series and offers a way to bring the Front games together for an expansive war in Europe experience.
