About this board game

Wibbell++ is a card-based game system for 2–18 players, with a listed play time of 45 minutes. Its deck contains cards featuring a pair of letters, a border pattern, and a value, creating the foundation for a varied collection of games.

The first edition included five featured games, while new headline games have been made available online for free each 1 August. As of 2021, the deck is known as the ELL deck. The system includes options for competitive, cooperative, solo, team-based, and two-player play.

• Wibbell: Shout out words containing particular letters as the challenge grows.
• Phrasell: Invent little phrases in a party-game setting.
• Grabell: Combine pattern recognition with dexterity.
• Alphabeticell: Assemble an alphabetical sequence while deciding when to take cards.
• Faybell: Build a cooperative story from card-inspired elements.
• Coupell: Help a partner create longer words while staying in balance.
• Mickell/Muckell: Work on three words at once in a multiplayer solitaire format.
• Categorickell: Compete in a mental recall tug-of-war between two teams.
• Unfinishabell: Try to avoid actually finishing a word.
• Puzzell, Biddabell, Dwindell, and Questabell: Explore runs and hand management, simultaneous auctions, increasingly difficult letters, and cooperative quests.

Games range from quick two- or three-minute challenges to longer activities lasting up to an hour, depending on the title and format. The range of mechanics makes Wibbell++ suitable for players looking for wordplay, abstract challenges, storytelling, recall, or cooperative problem-solving.

Released in 2017, Wibbell++ also supported an annual design contest from 2017 to 2023. Additional rules are available on the game’s website.
