Wing Leader: Blitz 1939-1942

About this expansion

Wing Leader: Blitz 1939-1942 is a two-player expansion for the Wing Leader system, with support for 1-2 players and games lasting approximately 120 minutes. Released in 2018, it adds new aircraft, scenarios, theaters of war, and a campaign focused on the early air actions of the German invasion of the Soviet Union.

Take command across a wide range of World War II air combats. Fly Dewoitine D.520 fighters against German Heinkels, lead Japanese Ki-27s against Soviet aircraft over Nomonhan, direct Royal Navy Fulmars and Martlets against Italian torpedo bombers during Operation Pedestal, or launch P-39D Airacobras against Japanese invasion forces approaching New Guinea.

The expansion broadens the available aircraft roster with the Soviet I-16, I-153, and MiG-3, the Curtiss Hawk 75, and major French fighters such as the M.S.406 and MB.152C. These additions provide new matchups and expand the historical scope of the Wing Leader system.

In the Barbarossa campaign, German and Soviet players face difficult decisions about targeting, attack planning, and raid execution. The campaign brings the desperate air actions of the Blitzkrieg to the tabletop, while Wing Leader: Blitz 1939-1942 expands the system with fresh strategic and tactical challenges.
