Wings of War: Watch Your Back! is a World War I game for 2–4 players that plays in about 20 minutes. As the second title in the Wings of War line, it can be played on its own or combined with Wings of War: Famous Aces for larger scenarios.

The game includes five aircraft models representing fighters and two-seaters: the Nieuport 11, Hanriot HD.1, Halberstadt D.III, British/American DH4, and Austrian Ufag C.I. Eighteen airplane cards are ready for immediate use, including the Nieuport 11 of German Jasta 1, flown in action by Leutnant Gustav Leffers.

Movement and combat are handled with dedicated card decks. Four decks of movement cards, one deck of combat cards, rulers, counters, and a promo card for the first set depicting an American SPAD XIII provide the components for play.

The rulebook matches the one in Famous Aces and presents scenarios for each box, along with additional scenarios for players who own both titles. Owners of Famous Aces can also use several weapon variants, including HD.1 fighters with twin machineguns, a DH4 with a twin machinegun in the rear arc, and an American Expeditionary Force DH4 with twin machineguns in both forward and rear arcs.
