Wutaki

About this board game

Wutaki is a middle-weight worker-placement game for 2–4 players, with a playing time of about 90 minutes. Released in 2021, it places players in a village facing turmoil beneath a threatening volcano.

The villagers believe they have angered the giant monster they worship as a god. As the volcano prepares to erupt, the village elders must send out workers to collect resources. These resources will later be sacrificed to fulfill powerful pacts and help soothe the monster.

Each elder wields power over an elemental tower. Different elements respond to certain pacts, creating opportunities to gain greater rewards as you decide how to use the resources gathered by your workers.

Wutaki also brings danger from the other elders. Their powerful omen cards can be used to bring your reign to an end, so the struggle to protect the village is not only against the erupting volcano.

• Worker placement: Send workers out to collect the resources needed by the village.
• Powerful pacts: Sacrifice resources to fulfill pacts and seek greater rewards.
• Elemental towers: Use the power of an element that responds to certain pacts.
• Omen cards: Watch for the other elders’ attempts to end your reign.

Every elder must decide how to use their power in a village desperate for salvation. Will you use your influence for good, or let the world of Wutaki burn?
