About this board game

Zitternix is a 10-minute balancing and dexterity game for 2–4 players aged 6 and up. Players remove wooden dowels from a carefully balanced structure, aiming to collect the most points before it collapses.

The game includes 27 wooden dowels in three thicknesses—small, medium, and large—and three colors: yellow, red, and blue. The dowels are placed inside a wooden ring, which is then twisted so the pieces balance on the table.

  • 27 wooden dowels in different colors and thicknesses
  • A wooden ring for creating the balancing structure
  • A colored die that determines which dowel must be removed
  • Dowel values ranging from 1 to 3 points

On a player’s roll, the colored die determines which dowel they must remove from the ring. Every dowel is worth between 1 and 3 points, with its value depending on its color and thickness, so each removal can affect both the score and the stability of the structure.

The central challenge in Zitternix is to take valuable dowels while leaving the wooden arrangement balanced. The game ends when the structure collapses, and the player with the most points at that moment wins.

Released in 2000, Zitternix offers a compact competition built around careful removals, changing balance, and simple scoring. Its short play time and straightforward rules make it suitable for family play and younger players from age 6.
