About this board game
Far Space Foundry is a 2015 board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 80 minutes. Players manage a vital supply network supporting the Far Space Federation’s ongoing peacekeeping mission.
The game unfolds across two distinct halves, each with its own foundry and focus. At Space Foundry Alpha, you gather skyrite blue crystals and rubion red ore, then process these materials into galactium purple metal.
On each turn, play a card to either land a shuttle on a docking bay or take off from one. Shuttles carry raw materials from the asteroid or deliver them to your freighters, while docking bays offer special abilities when activated, including ore processing and galactic traders.
- Mine and process resources at Space Foundry Alpha.
- Recruit alien captains in the cantina, each with a unique ability, to help build your freighter fleet.
- Manufacture products and improve your cargo at Space Foundry Beta.
Once everyone has played all their cards, the action shifts to Space Foundry Beta. Your acquired materials are transported down to the station, where robots turn them into products with varying worth.
Manufacturing is only part of the work at Beta. You can upgrade your freighters or charge up existing products for more points, then refill the freighters and transport the finished items to their final destination for final scoring.
With its transition between resource handling, fleet development, robotic production, and delivery, Far Space Foundry presents a complete supply-line operation across two connected stages.
