The agrarian society of Catan’s Viking ancestors is long gone. Modern Catanians need energy to keep the island moving, but pollution is wreaking havoc. As you develop Catan, you must decide whether to invest in clean energy resources or rely on cheaper fossil fuels that may cause disastrous effects for the island.

New Energies is rooted in familiar Catan mechanisms, including harvesting, trading, and building. These classic activities provide the foundation for a new strategic challenge as energy production becomes central to the island’s future.
