About this board game
Burning Suns is a tactical science-fiction 4X game for 2–5 players, with an approximately 200-minute play time. Competing for supremacy, players use technology, diplomacy, exploitation, and destruction to shape the fate of an expansive universe.
Rather than offering a traditional 4X experience, Burning Suns gives you complete tactical control over its core actions. You must analyze the situation, calculate possible moves, and adapt as opportunities emerge. Forcing, tricking, and outmaneuvering opponents can be just as important as following a long-term strategy.
Create a distinct empire from three elements: Ideology, Race, and Framework. These combinations offer unique strengths and weaknesses, with no less than 1,000 possible empires to explore. Your chosen empire, along with your use of abilities, leaders, and agents, helps determine the strategies available to you.
- Build galaxies to suit your preferences, with layouts that may evolve during play.
- Execute actions immediately, keeping players involved throughout the game.
- Adapt to an action order that changes every turn.
- Choose whether to ally with or conquer worlds.
- Engage opponents using a variety of units while managing risk and opportunity.
Because every action is carried out immediately and the order changes from turn to turn, downtime stays to a minimum. Success depends on being proactive and reactive, seizing chances when they appear instead of waiting for a perfect moment that may never come.
With many possible routes to victory, Burning Suns encourages experimentation and tactical improvisation. The game is expanded by Parallel Galaxies, Invading Races, Flying Unit Stands, and Combat Dice.
