About this board game

Museum: Kickstarter Edition is a collection-and-barter board game for 1–4 players, with games lasting about 60 minutes. Set at the turn of the 20th century, it places you in the role of a museum curator competing to build the biggest and most coherent collection.

Begin with a small collection of relics, then send explorers around the world to uncover more. Each relic has a value that determines either its cost when added to your museum or how much it contributes toward acquiring another relic. Once spent, relics move to your reserve, where they can be exchanged for items of equal value—but your opponents can also access that reserve.

As your museum grows, assemble collections based on categories such as war, agriculture, and architecture, or on periods including Ancient Egypt, Rome, and the Aztec era. Patron cards reward particular collections, while Explorer cards let you hire famous archaeologists to grant bonuses. Event cards introduce changing circumstances inspired by historical events, requiring you to adapt your plans.

The Kickstarter Edition adds a selection of content beyond the retail release:

  • Crystal Skulls: 12 cards that can be played as regular artifacts or sold to a special collector for many points.
  • Assistants: characters offering different setups and unique abilities.
  • League of Extraordinary Explorers: double-sized cards purchased for 8 prestige points and displayed in the Main Gallery.
  • A Solo mode, discard tiles, and additional Expert, Favour, Headline, and Patron cards.

Featuring more than 300 individual illustrations by Vincent Dutrait and authentic architectural facts, Museum: Kickstarter Edition makes every collection a challenging curatorial puzzle. At the end, points come from collections and their value, and the highest score wins.
