About this board game
Ogre / G.E.V. is a tactical ground combat game for 1–3 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Set in 2085 A.D., it combines two linked games of futuristic armored warfare: OGRE and its sequel, G.E.V.
In the basic OGRE game, one player commands infantry and armor while defending a command post. The opposing player has just one unit: a giant cybernetic tank called the OGRE. Despite the radically different forces, the battle is designed to be an even match.
The battlefield brings together several kinds of military units and weapons. Hovercraft, tanks, and infantry fight across a conflict where tactical nuclear devices are part of the arsenal, while the autonomous OGRE stands as the most feared weapon of all.
- Play with infantry, armor, hovercraft, and OGREs.
- Defend a command post against a single cybernetic tank.
- Use advanced rules for solitaire or multiplayer action.
- Explore expanded terrain rules in G.E.V. on a larger map.
Advanced games expand the possibilities, allowing solitaire play or multiplayer battles with OGREs on both sides. This provides a broader framework for exploring the setting and its tactical ground combat.
In G.E.V., units from OGRE carry over into a more ambitious game with expanded terrain rules and a larger map. Released in 1990, Ogre / G.E.V. presents a focused vision of armored conflict in the not-so-distant future.
