The X-Files: Circle of Truth

The X-Files: Circle of Truth is a two-player micro card game in which Agents Mulder and Scully compete to collect evidence and close a bizarre case.

Each agent has a different conclusion: the event may be paranormal, or it may have a rational explanation. Three scoring rules are dealt out at random, establishing the conditions that determine how valuable the evidence will be.

The remaining 15 cards are arranged face down in a circle. Players take turns drafting cards from this circular display to build their case. Each double-sided card features four rectangular areas on its back and a scoring rule on its front, making the available evidence and scoring information central to the game’s compact tactical puzzle.

As the draft unfolds, both players must choose which cards to claim while working toward the strongest possible result under the randomly selected scoring rules. The circle gives the game its distinctive presentation, while the limited card pool keeps every choice focused.

When all the evidence has been drafted, players determine the value of their cases. In The X-Files: Circle of Truth, the player whose case is worth the most points wins. This compact game was included in the January 2018 Loot Crate.
