About this board game

Neon Gods is a 2–4-player street-gang board game with an approximately 120-minute playing time, set in a kaleidoscopic near future of heightened reality. Inspired by the science-fiction cinema of the 1970s and 1980s, it places players in a neon-drenched struggle for control of the city.

Build your influence by starting your own legitimate businesses and watching them flourish. Recruit disillusioned ne’er-do-wells to hold your territory, then purchase black-market resources that can give you an edge as rival gangs expand their reach.

Territory is never secure. Opponents can muscle in on what you have built, forcing you to defend your holdings or shed blood to seize territory from others. Meanwhile, the cops are always ready to harass supposedly innocent business owners, adding another threat to your climb toward power.

• Recruit gang members to hold your territory.

• Defend your territory or fight to take over rival holdings.
• Deal with unwanted attention from the cops.

At the end of every third round, players gain points for the territories they control. After nine rounds, the player with the most points wins control of the city.

With its heightened-reality setting and hard-edged street-gang story, Neon Gods turns business, territory, recruitment, and confrontation into a battle for urban dominance. The world may not think much of you, but in the back-alley glow of the neon night, you can become a god.
