About this board game

TOKYO JUTAKU is a real-time dexterity board game for 1–8 players, with games lasting around 45 minutes. You play a famous or emerging Japanese architect competing to build small homes on strange or limited-size properties.

Each challenge begins with a site card presenting building requirements such as height and the number of pieces allowed. Players use geometric pieces to construct their designs, but there is an important restriction: you may build with only one piece at a time. Speed matters, yet the more difficult your conceptual building, the greater the payment you can make if you complete it first.

As architects work simultaneously, every structure becomes a test of balance, dexterity, and quick construction. The goal is not simply to finish a building, but to complete the required design before your rivals and claim valuable site cards.

  • Real-time construction: Race to complete architectural challenges before other players.
  • Dexterity building: Stack geometric pieces while following each site card’s requirements.
  • Flexible player count: Supports solo play and games with up to eight players.
  • Updated production: Includes scaled-up pieces and site cards, high-quality gloss-finished wooden pieces, and a standardized medium box.

The game ends as soon as one player has claimed five site cards. Everyone then adds up their total yen payments, and the richest architect is declared the winner.

This re-implementation of the original highly acclaimed Jutaku keeps the focus on fast, physical building while presenting the components in a larger, easier-to-handle format. In TOKYO JUTAKU, every site is a compact architectural challenge where precision, speed, and ambitious designs can lead to victory.
