About this board game

Wartime: The Battle of Valyance Vale is a two-player scenario-based battle game played in about 30 minutes, where units clash in a tense war between Valyance and Firebrand.

Every unit activation is governed by a sand timer. Whenever a unit moves, attacks, casts a spell, or uses a special ability, a timer is flipped, and that unit cannot be used again until the sand has run out.

This timer system creates a gritty battle with little time to think and plan. Players must manage both their unit actions and their available timers, choosing when to commit an activation and when to wait for a unit to become available again.

  • 30-, 60-, and 90-second timers control unit activations.
  • Scenarios can introduce other timers for time-sensitive missions.
  • Units can move, attack, cast spells, and use special abilities.

Wartime: The Battle of Valyance Vale features branching missions, with the outcome of one scenario determining which mission may follow. This gives the campaign structure a sense of consequence as players fight their way through connected battles.

The game also supports player-designed missions. Configure your own units for a custom fight, or mix up unit configurations while playing the included missions. Whether following the scenario path or creating your own engagements, every battle challenges you to use timing and unit actions wisely.
