Minecraft: Builders & Biomes

About this board game

Minecraft: Builders & Biomes is a 2019 board game for 2–4 players that takes about 60 minutes to play. Players explore the Overworld, mine resources, and build structures while competing to create the most valuable personal building board.

Familiar foes such as Endermen and Creepers appear throughout the game. Collect weapons from the board to defeat mobs, earning points and additional awards along the way.

Scoring takes place three times as the resource cube’s layers are depleted. Each round highlights a different way to develop your board:

• First scoring: Choose a forest, desert, mountain, or snowy tundra biome, then score your largest connected area of that biome.
• Second scoring: Choose wood, sand, stone, or obsidian, then score your largest connected group of structures made from that material.
• Third scoring: Score your largest contiguous group of structures from a type of your choice: decoration, dwelling, animal house, or bridge.

Your personal building board begins with printed biome spaces, but placing buildings can alter the biome of a space. This makes construction an important part of planning, as the structures you add can shape future scoring opportunities.

When the final block is removed from the third layer of the building block cube, the adventure ends. After the third scoring round, add bonus points from the mobs you collected. In Minecraft: Builders & Biomes, the builder with the most points wins.
