About this expansion
A Feast for Odin: The Norwegians is a large expansion for 1–4 players that adds new strategies, puzzle tiles, actions, buildings, and exploration boards to the Viking game, with play time of about 120 minutes.
At its center is a renewed action board made from three double-sided pieces. Its layout changes according to player count and introduces opportunities such as butchering, elk-hunting, fishing, and thievery. A new fifth column offers stronger one-viking actions, including forging a grey special tile with a sword value of 8 or less and performing a small emigration with a whaling boat.
The fifth column also creates a sharp timing decision: after using one of its actions, you cannot place more vikings for the rest of the round. Alternatively, sending two vikings there allows you to play an occupation card alongside the action.
- New 2×5 and U-shaped puzzle tiles, plus animals including horses and pigs
- Five new grey special tiles, including a pan, hauberk, and anvil
- Four new exploration boards featuring islands and Irish coastal settlements
- Six double-sided artisan shed boards for varied starting opportunities
- VP tokens that can replace occupation cards, with values of 2, 3, or 4 points
The new red tiles support expanded animal strategies: horses are worth 6 VP, while pigs are worth 1 VP and breed every round. Artisan sheds provide new spaces for orange and red tiles, rewarding specific arrangements with goods, silver, and victory points.
With updated versions of the original exploration boards, an additional mountain strip, extra coins, and more resource tiles, The Norwegians gives A Feast for Odin a broader range of choices while preserving its focus on planning and tile placement.
