About this expansion

Nemesis: Carnomorphs is a 1–5 player survival board game with an approximately 120-minute play time, released in 2019. It plunges the crew into a shipboard outbreak where a parasitic form of XNA rewrites living matter and turns biomass into increasingly dangerous creatures.

The infestation begins with Metagorgers, or larvae. At the start, these are the only aliens in the bag, and each encounter may produce several of them. They can inflict light wounds before attempting to escape; any larva that survives the round evolves into a Shambler waiting somewhere in the ship.

Shamblers are tougher opponents that seek out and consume entire bodies. Players may burn corpses to prevent this, but doing so costs time and resources and could damage important parts of the ship. Ignore the remains, and the consequences may become much worse.

  • Fleshbeasts: powerful creatures created when Shamblers eat whole corpses.
  • Butcher: a formidable creature formed when one Shambler consumes another, with only one able to exist on the board at a time.
  • Mutation cards: replacements for infection cards, offering severe disadvantages, occasional benefits, or permanent setbacks.

Combat in Nemesis: Carnomorphs encourages a more active approach than simply fleeing. Players must decide when to fight, eliminate threats, burn bodies, and preserve the ship while still pursuing their objectives.

With escalating alien forms, cinematic mutations, and constant pressure surrounding every corpse, Carnomorphs turns survival into a desperate race to prevent the outbreak from evolving beyond control.
