Keyflower: The Merchants

About this expansion

Keyflower: The Merchants is the second expansion for Keyflower, adding deeper village development for 2–6 players in a game that takes about 90 minutes.

Across the seasons, players continue developing their own unique villages by bidding for village tiles featuring specialized buildings and boats. The expansion introduces new ways to use workers, resources, and skill tiles while adding further choices to the village-building experience.

Contracts provide additional routes to scoring points, but they are not limited to that purpose. A contract may also be traded for the item it depicts, whether that item is a worker, a resource, or a skill tile. This gives the contracts a flexible role as players develop their villages.

• Extensions double the fixed point scores of existing tiles.
• Cabins create more opportunities to upgrade and build extensions.
• Incoming boats present new combinations of items.
• Contracts offer new scoring possibilities or can be traded for depicted items.

Whereas Keyflower: The Farmers adds breadth to the game, Keyflower: The Merchants adds depth. It particularly enhances the two-player game while also working with groups of up to six players.

Players can use all the expansion tiles and add random tiles from Keyflower to reach the required number, using the Merchant’s variant. Alternatively, the new tiles can simply be combined with the existing game. With its contracts, cabins, extensions, and changing boat cargo, Keyflower: The Merchants expands the ways players can shape their village.
