About this expansion

Android: Netrunner – A Study in Static is a 2013 data pack for two players, designed for games of about 45 minutes. As the fourth Data Pack in the Genesis Cycle, it expands the cyberstruggles of Android: Netrunner with 60 new cards.

This set develops each faction’s traditional strengths while inviting players to explore new strategies. Its central theme is the flow of time: players can pursue ways to accelerate or impede the passage of time, turning perception and movement into part of the contest.

  • Each of the four Corporations receives a new piece of ice.
  • All three Runners receive a new icebreaker.
  • New resources and agendas support tightly focused deck builds.
  • New ice, icebreakers, and hardware offer opportunities to reconfigure existing decks.

A Study in Static contains three copies each of twenty individual cards. These additions give players more tools for building and breaking snares and subroutines, while also encouraging them to look beyond familiar approaches.

Corporations and Runners can use the new cards to refine their existing decks for greater efficiency or develop specialized combinations centered on an increasing number of tricks and traps. The result is a set focused on evolving strategic possibilities without losing sight of the strengths that define each faction.

With its emphasis on ice, icebreakers, hardware, resources, agendas, and the manipulation of time itself, Android: Netrunner – A Study in Static adds another layer to the game’s ongoing cybernetic struggle.
