About this expansion

Eclipse: Pulsar is a board game expansion for 2–6 players, with a play time of 120 minutes and a 2012 release year. It adds two Pulsar sector hexes and one Nova Burst Discovery Tile to the game.

The two Pulsar hexes are shuffled with the other Outer Sector hexes before the Outer Sector stack is built. When you place your Influence Disc on a Pulsar, put it on the hex’s Move action space, whether you do so while Exploring or later with the Influence action.

Once per round, you may activate the Pulsar instead of taking a normal Action. Move your Influence Disc to either of the two free action spaces and take that action. The available options are weaker versions of the regular actions—one Move, one Build, or one Upgrade—matching the normal Reactions. The Pulsar cannot be used after you have passed, and no more than one Influence Disc may occupy it.

  • Two Pulsar sector hexes added to the Outer Sector stack
  • One Nova Burst Discovery Tile shuffled with the other Discovery Tiles
  • A once-per-round alternative to a normal Action
  • A battle effect that damages every opposing Ship

When you collect the Nova Burst tile, place it beside your Player Board. You may remove it from the game before a battle begins, or activate it during a battle when it is your turn in Initiative order. Doing so causes 1 damage to every opposing Ship in that battle.

If the tile remains in your possession at the end of the game, it is worth 1VP. If the Magellan remove it from the game, they do not receive their species bonus for the Nova Burst. Eclipse: Pulsar adds timing-sensitive options through its Pulsar sectors and a single-use battle effect through the Nova Burst tile.
