About this expansion
Agricola: Through the Seasons is a mini expansion for 1–5 players, designed for games lasting around 120 minutes. Released in 2008, it is presented as a postcard showing the four seasons of a year arranged in a circle.
Each round is assigned to one season, and the game cycles through spring, summer, fall, and winter. The starting season is chosen at random, so the seasonal sequence can begin at a different point in each game and continues until the game ends.
Every season introduces an additional action field along with minor adjustments to resource fields or existing actions. These changes add small, clearly defined variations to the familiar Agricola framework.
- Spring: an additional sow or breed action.
- Summer: a vacation action that provides extra victory points.
- Fall: a harvest, vegetable action.
- Winter: family growth without requiring space, for 2 wood and 3 food.
The resource adjustments typically change a field by one wood, clay, reed, stone, or fish. Action adjustments generally provide a free benefit when the related action is taken, such as two free fences with the fence action.
Through the Seasons offers a compact way to vary an Agricola game while keeping its seasonal structure easy to follow. As a giveaway available at Essen 2008, this postcard mini expansion adds four rotating seasonal effects to the base game.
