About this expansion

Eclipse: Nebula is an expansion for 2–6 players, designed for 120-minute games and released in 2014. It introduces a cosmic cloud of dust and gas where young stars leave the sector without colonizable planets, but offer brave explorers powerful Discoveries and a perfect hiding place.

The expansion contains two Nebula hexes, one Ancient Monolith Discovery Tile, and one Development / Rare Technology Board printed on the reverse side of the rules sheet. Before play, shuffle the Nebula hexes with the other Sector hexes, then use them when building the Middle and Outer Sector stacks. Shuffle the Discovery Tile with the other Discovery Tiles.

Each Nebula is divided into three subsectors linked by Wormholes. For Move, Explore, and Influence rules, each subsector functions exactly like a normal hex. When you Explore and place the Nebula, put one Discovery tile in every subsector marked with a Discovery symbol, and place one Ancient Ship in the subsector marked with the Ancient symbol.

  • You cannot place an Influence Disc on the Nebula.
  • A Discovery Tile can be claimed only by having a Ship in its subsector at the end of the Combat Phase.
  • If a Discovery Tile benefit is placed in the Nebula, it must go in the subsector where that tile was found.

When you collect the Ancient Monolith tile, place it in the hex where you found it. It functions just like a normal Monolith. With its connected subsectors, special placement rules, and new components, Eclipse: Nebula adds a distinct location for exploration within the sector.
