About this expansion

Pegasus Bridge: ASL Historical Module 4 is a two-player Advanced Squad Leader module for recreating the fighting around Pegasus Bridge during the invasion of Normandy. With an estimated play time of 120 minutes, it was released in 1997.

A few minutes past midnight on June 6, 1944, glider-borne D Company of the 2nd Oxfordshire and Buckinghamshire Light Infantry seizes a key bridge over the Caen Canal. Alongside paratroopers from the 7th Battalion, 6th Airborne Division, the force must hold the bridge until relief arrives.

The action continues throughout June 6 as the glidermen and paratroopers face eight German counterattacks from elements of the 21st Panzer Division and the 716th Infantry Division. The defense finally ends when the Warwickshires advance from Sword Beach to provide relief.

The module centers on a 22-by-32-inch map depicting the bridge and the surrounding towns of Benouville and Le Port. Chapter Q introduces new terrain types and provides the rules for the Pegasus Bridge Campaign Games, while additional material covers new vehicles and Day 7 of the Squad Leader Training Manual.

  • Six scenarios highlighting key moments of the battle
  • An ASL campaign scenario and a historical variant
  • A countersheet with 160 half-inch counters and 64 five-eighths-inch counters
  • Chapter Q, Chapter H notes for new vehicles, and Chapter K training material

Scenarios include Ham and Bloody Jam, Howard’s Men, Piecemel, Killean’s Red, Taylor Made Defense, and It’s about time, plus its historical variant. Pegasus Bridge: ASL Historical Module 4 combines a detailed historical setting with the campaign and scenario material needed to explore this pivotal D-Day engagement.
