About this expansion

Gung Ho!: ASL Module 9 is a two-player Advanced Squad Leader module for tactical World War II combat, with approximately 120 minutes of play time and a 1992 release year. It introduces the classic amphibious assault to ASL through a detailed Pacific Theater setting.

The module adds four types of U.S. Marine Corps squads, representing their evolution through the war years, alongside rules and counters for Japanese cave defenses. It also includes new infantry counters for the early U.S. Army in the Philippines and the complete order of battle of the Chinese Army.

Its extensive Chapter G rules cover the distinctive challenges of landing operations and coastal battle. Players can encounter deep and shallow ocean, beaches with variable width and slope, sea walls, piers, beach obstacles, reefs, heavy surf, naval gunfire, and the major types of Allied and Japanese landing craft used throughout World War II.

  • Boards 38 and 39
  • PTO terrain overlays, including Be1-Be7, Efl1-Efl3, OC1-OC4, and P1-P5
  • Five counter sheets with 680 half-inch and 328 five-eighths-inch counters
  • Eight scenarios, numbered 67 through 74
  • Chapter G, H, and N material, plus additional rules pages and a chapter divider

The included scenarios range from Cibik’s Ridge and The Rock to Sea of Tranquility, Hell or High Water, and Bloody Red Beach. Together, they present the module’s amphibious assaults, jungle fighting, cave defenses, and Pacific combat forces.

Gung Ho! requires ASL, Beyond Valor, Yanks, West of Alamein, and Code of Bushido to play.
