About this expansion

Yanks: ASL Module 3 is a two-player Advanced Squad Leader expansion for sessions of approximately 120 minutes, released in 1987. It is not a complete game, so ownership of the Advanced Squad Leader Game System is required for play.

This first edition provides an extensive U.S. Army countermix, allowing players to command every major vehicle, weapon, and troop type that saw action in the European Theater. The module also includes four mounted 8″ x 22″ mapboards, numbered 16 through 19, for use with the ASL system.

Eight scenarios, numbered 19 through 26, present a range of engagements, including Backs to the Sea, Among the Ruins, Gavin’s Gamble, and Tanks in the Street. Together, they add new situations for players using the included U.S. forces and ASL components.

  • Four mounted mapboards: #16–19
  • 519 1/2-inch counters and 528 5/8-inch counters across five countersheets
  • U.S. vehicle and ordnance notes from Chapter H, pages H31–H48
  • U.S. order-of-battle detail from Chapter N, pages N7–N10
  • Eight scenarios, #19–#26

The first-edition package includes Chapter E, covering optional rules for Night, Interrogation, Weather, Ski Troops, Boats, Swimming, Air Support, Gliders, Paratroop Landings, Ammo Vehicles, Convoys, and Artillery Barrages. These Chapter E pages are first-edition rules; the same optional-rules chapter is included in the second-edition ASL Rulebook.

For players with the required system, Yanks: ASL Module 3 expands the available American forces, reference material, maps, and scenario selection in one substantial module.
