About this expansion

Doomed Battalions: ASL Module 11 is an Allied Minor expansion for the Advanced Squad Leader game system, designed for 2 players and offering approximately 120 minutes of play. Released in 1998, it is not a complete game and requires Beyond Valor, the ASL Rulebook, and several other Advanced Squad Leader boards.

The module’s contents vary by edition. The 1st–2nd edition includes three 8″ x 22″ geomorphic mapboards, three countersheets, and eight ASL scenarios. The 3rd edition expands the set to five mapboards, four countersheets, and 24 scenarios, while the 4th edition includes 32 scenarios along with updated materials.

  • Chapter H notes for the Allied Minors
  • Geomorphic mapboards, including boards 9, 11, 33, 44, and 45 in the 3rd–4th editions
  • Overlays OW1, RR1–RR14, and X19–X24
  • Twenty replacement Chapter A and B rules pages in the 4th edition
  • An updated National Capabilities Chart in the 4th edition

The scenario collection includes the eight scenarios from the original module, eight scenarios originally published in The Last Hurrah, and additional scenarios from sources including the ASL Annual, The General, ASL Journal, and Action Packs. The 4th edition adds scenarios 307–314, including Maczek Fire Brigade, A Polish Requiem, and Airborne Samurai.

The 3rd and 4th editions combine Doomed Battalions with The Last Hurrah, making the complete Allied Minor order of battle—infantry, support weapons, guns, and vehicles—available in one module. For ASL players seeking the Allied Minor material in an expanded package, Doomed Battalions brings together substantial counters, terrain, overlays, rules references, and scenarios.
