About this expansion

Rising Sun: ASL Module 13 is an Advanced Squad Leader expansion for 2–4 players, with an approximate play time of 180 minutes. It brings the jungles, islands, and atolls of the southwest Pacific to the ASL game system.

This package combines the original Code of Bushido and Gung Ho! modules. It includes the complete Japanese, Chinese, and United States Marine Corps orders of battle, along with a revised Chapter G covering Pacific Theater of Operations rules and an updated Chapter H for Japanese and Chinese vehicles and ordnance, plus landing craft.

Rising Sun contains 32 scenarios, including updated scenarios from the two original modules and previously out-of-print PTO scenarios from the GENERAL, the ASL Annual, and the ASL Journal. The collection also includes the Gavutu-Tanambogo campaign game, Sand and Blood, with a new 17-by-22-inch Gavutu-Tanambogo map and Chapter Z pages.

  • 1,892 counters: 1,300 half-inch and 592 five-eighths-inch counters
  • Seven geomorphic mapboards: boards 34–39 and 47
  • A Gavutu-Tanambogo historical map and dozens of overlays
  • Updated scenario errata and balancing changes
  • Larger, more readable fonts in the rules and counters

The updated boards and overlays support a broad selection of Pacific battlefields, while the scenarios cover engagements involving Japanese, Chinese, and Marine Corps forces. The included materials are designed for use with the wider Advanced Squad Leader system.

Rising Sun is not a complete game; ownership of the Advanced Squad Leader game system is required to play its scenarios. For ASL players seeking a substantial Pacific Theater collection, this 2013 module combines rules, forces, maps, counters, overlays, and campaign content in one package.
