About this expansion

Neuroshima Hex! 3.0: Sand Runners is a board game for 1–4 players with an approximately 30-minute play time, released in 2019. It introduces an army of loose cannons whose bizarre behavior hides a persistent fighting force.

The Sand Runners are the remaining forces once sent to face Moloch at the very beginning. The experience left them as a bunch of nut-cases who lost their minds, giving them a light approach to life and an unpredictable presence on the battlefield.

Their main advantage is the Sandstorm. During a Battle, this ability can turn off the fundamental board space, creating a distinctive way for the Sand Runners to affect the fight. Their Warriors can also have Features resembling Modules, allowing them to support one another during Battles.

  • Sandstorm: Turn off the fundamental board space during a Battle.
  • Warrior Features: Some Warriors use Module-like Features to support each other.
  • Double-sided HQ: The HQ can eliminate a single slower threat before it attacks.
  • Key weakness: The army begins with low initiative.

The double-sided HQ gives the army another unusual choice, but changing to an unfortunate side may leave it unable to kill adjacent units during the Battle. This creates a sharp risk alongside the faction’s strange capabilities.

With its low starting initiative, support-focused Warriors, and ability to disrupt the fundamental board space, Neuroshima Hex! 3.0: Sand Runners rewards attention to timing and positioning. Just when opponents believe they understand this army, its most bizarre surprises may appear.
