Mansions of Madness: Second Edition – What Lies Within is a scenario for 1–5 investigators that takes about 150 minutes to play. Set in an abandoned home in Southside, it begins with a murder and leads into a disturbing investigation filled with unexplained events.

The mansion appears empty, but strange noises rise from the cellar. Investigators must explore the murder scene, search the house, and determine what happened to the victim. The investigation reaches beyond the violent end of his life, requiring them to discover why he was murdered and what he did beforehand.

As the scenario unfolds, investigators face more than a straightforward mystery. They must fend off terrible creatures, encounter strange phenomena, and follow the clues hidden throughout the supposedly vacant home. Every discovery brings them closer to understanding the events surrounding the murder—and to learning what lies within the cellar.
