About this expansion

Apples to Apples: Expansion Set #2 is an expansion for the core Apples to Apples game for 4–10 players, with a playing time of approximately 30 minutes.

Released in 2000, this set adds 216 Green Apple cards and 72 Red Apple cards to the original game. It also introduces three New Rules variations that change how players choose cards, compete for the judge’s approval, and win green cards.

• Big Apples Variation: Players who are confident the judge will choose their card can wager one of their green apple cards. If the judge selects one of their red apple cards, they win the wagered cards; otherwise, the wagers go to the bottom of the card stack.
• 2 for 1 Apples Variation: The judge turns over two green apple cards. Players select the red card from their hands that is best described by both prompts, and the winner receives both green cards.
• Apple Potpourri Variation: Players choose their red cards before the judge reveals the green card, creating an unpredictable mix before the winning card is selected.

These optional formats give the core game different ways to handle wagers, prompts, and timing. Whether players are making a confident bet, matching two green cards, or choosing before seeing the prompt, each variation provides a distinct take on the familiar judging format.

Apples to Apples: Expansion Set #2 is part of the Apples to Apples series. The expansion was later discontinued when it was included with the Apples to Apples Party Box Edition.
