Knightmare Chess (Third Edition) is a two-player chess game with an approximate 90-minute play time, adding card-driven unpredictability to the standard game of Chess.

Instead of relying only on the usual flow of chess turns, players receive cards that can change how the game unfolds. Depending on the card, it may be played before a turn, after a turn, or sometimes instead of taking a turn.

The cards create effects with different scopes. Some influence only a single move, while others alter the entire game, giving each play session a changing structure within the framework of standard Chess.
