About this expansion

ASL Action Pack #8: Roads Through Rome is an Advanced Squad Leader action pack for 2–4 players, with an approximate play time of 180 minutes and a 2012 release. It presents ten scenarios covering the war in the Mediterranean, from the first American-German armor engagement in Tunisia to the Allied drive through Rome and up the Italian peninsula.

The package includes three double-sided 11×16-inch mounted mapboards: 4a/b, 5a/b, and 6a/b. Each board is completely geomorphic and compatible with previous ASL mapboards, providing new configurations for the scenarios and future play.

Every scenario features a historical setting and opposing forces drawn from the Mediterranean campaign. Battles range from Chouigui Pass in Tunisia and Battipaglia, Altavilla, Persano, Acerno, Esperia, and the Artena-Valmonte Gap in Italy to locations near Rome and Coriano.

  • AP73 Happy Valley: American versus German/Italian forces in Tunisia
  • AP74–AP78: British or American forces against German forces in Italy
  • AP79 Rude Mood: Free French versus German forces at Esperia
  • AP80–AP82: American or Canadian forces against German forces in Italy

Roads Through Rome also provides optional Australian Balancing System (ABS) provisions for every scenario. ABS supports scenario-side selection through a series of escalating handicap bids, helping accommodate players of varying ability while preserving the central scenario choice.

All ten scenarios require the ASL core modules. With its historical range, three reversible maps, and optional balancing provisions, ASL Action Pack #8: Roads Through Rome adds a focused Mediterranean selection to an Advanced Squad Leader collection.
