Coloretto for Two Players

About this expansion

Coloretto for Two Players is a two-player expansion for Coloretto with an approximately 30-minute play time. It adapts the usual Coloretto gameplay for exactly two players by introducing new row capacities and several setup and play changes.

Before play begins, two colors are removed. Each player then receives two color cards, and the two cards dealt to each player must be different colors.

The game uses three new Row Cards instead of the normal Row Cards. These new cards can hold different numbers of color cards, creating three available row capacities:

• One row can hold a maximum of 1 card.
• One row can hold a maximum of 2 cards.
• One row can hold a maximum of 3 cards.

Play proceeds as usual for Coloretto, with the two players taking rows according to the game’s standard flow. After both players have taken a row, the remaining third row is discarded from play.

This official two-player version was published on Michael Schacht’s website and is included in the 2006 and later Abacus Spiele releases of Coloretto. The normal Row Cards are not needed when using this version.

With its dedicated card capacities, modified setup, and discarded third row, Coloretto for Two Players provides a rules variation specifically designed for a two-player game. It expands Coloretto while preserving the core way the game is played.
