About this expansion

Snowdonia: Britannia Bridge is a scenario for Snowdonia for 1-5 players, with a playing time of 60 minutes. Created by designer Tony Boydell and publisher Indie Boards and Cards, it was released in 2013 to commemorate the second edition of the game.

The scenario takes its name from Britannia Bridge, known as Pont Britannia in Welsh. The bridge crosses the Menai Strait between the island of Anglesey and the mainland of Wales, providing the historical setting for this Snowdonia scenario.

Britannia Bridge was originally designed and built between 1846 and 1850 by Robert Stephenson. It was constructed as a tubular bridge of wrought-iron, rectangular box-section spans for carrying rail traffic.

Snowdonia: Britannia Bridge introduces a focused set of changes to the base game. Rather than presenting an entirely separate game, the scenario adds a small collection of altered contracts together with a distinctive new engine.

  • Three tweaked contract cards add scenario-specific contract changes.
  • The Dawn Raider is a new engine with a special track-building option.

The Dawn Raider allows its owner to build track instead of the game whenever an event would cause the game to build track. The owner can choose whether to use this ability, creating a clear decision around those event-driven track-building moments.

With its Welsh setting, historical bridge connection, revised contracts, and unique engine effect, this scenario offers a compact addition for Snowdonia players. The scenario was available directly from Indie Boards and Cards at conventions.
