About this expansion

ASL: Journal – Issue Two is a two-player ASL magazine from 2000, presented in a 68-page format and packed with scenarios, maps, counters, and rulebook material.

The issue contains 24 ASL scenarios, offering a broad collection of engagements ranging from the Kakazu Ridge scenarios on Okinawa to battles set in other historical locations. The scenario lineup includes J13–J17 for Kakazu Ridge, followed by scenarios J18–J35 and PB6a.

  • Kakazu Ridge scenarios: J13 The Gorge, J14 On the Hoss’ Side, J15 Turning Off the Spigot, J16 Kakazu’s Tombs, and J17 Clearing Kakazu
  • Additional scenarios: J18 The Pinnacle, J19 Merzenhausen Zoo, J20 The Guns of Naro, J21 Scobie Preserves, J22 Oh Joy!, and more
  • Edition numbering: The Weigh In appears as J25 in the first edition and 139 in the second; Round Two appears as J26 and 140

A central feature is the full-sized 22-by-32-inch historical map of Kakazu Ridge, supporting the dedicated Okinawa scenario material. The issue also includes two countersheets and necessary rulebook pages containing Chapter Z additions for the Kakazu Ridge special rules.

Scenario titles span a wide range of settings and subjects, including The Capture of Balta, Nocturnal Attrition, Lovat First Sight, Panzer Graveyard, The Slaughterhouse, Men of the Mountains, and Siam Sambal. With its combination of new scenarios and supporting components, ASL: Journal – Issue Two is a substantial magazine-format addition for two-player ASL sessions.
