About this expansion

Arkham Horror: The King in Yellow Expansion is an expansion for 1–8 players with an approximately 240-minute play time, introducing a darker age to the Arkham Horror series.

The expansion adds a major new mechanic: Heralds. These figures prepare the way for the Ancient One to arrive, bringing a new source of danger and pressure to the game. The expansion also includes the King in Yellow Herald.

Old familiar faces do not remain what they once were. With the addition of Blight cards, former friends can be turned against the investigators after going irretrievably mad, creating grim new developments in Arkham.

More than 160 new cards expand the game’s possibilities and its catalogue of horrible happenings. These cards detail new items, new spells, and other events in Arkham and beyond, giving the expansion a broad range of new content.

  • 13 Blight cards featuring old friends gone irretrievably mad
  • 7 Magical Effect cards representing powerful new abilities
  • The new Herald mechanic and the King in Yellow Herald
  • 3 new Monster tokens, more horrible than any before
  • Over 160 new cards with items, spells, and terrible happenings

Released in 2007, The King in Yellow gives Arkham Horror fans new mechanics, new threats, and a substantial collection of cards to explore. Its Herald system and corrupted familiar faces bring a distinctly darker tone to the investigation.

For players looking to deepen their Arkham Horror experience, Arkham Horror: The King in Yellow Expansion adds powerful effects, terrifying monsters, and new ways for the Ancient One’s arrival to draw nearer.
