About this expansion

Atlantis Rising: Monstrosities is an expansion for Atlantis Rising (Second Edition), offering new challenges for 1–7 players in a 120-minute game. Released in 2023, it brings unspeakable terrors to the effort to save Atlantis and introduces new powers that may help the island endure.

The gods will stop at nothing to destroy Atlantis. From the hidden depths of the world, they have summoned creatures to destroy, frighten, and harry the Atlantean effort to build the Cosmic Gate. Yet some of these monsters may prove more sympathetic to Atlantis than to the cruel gods who called them forth.

The expansion includes three distinct challenges, each built around a different threat:

• Medusa Unleashed: Medusa turns Atlanteans to stone. Break her curse and attempt to recruit the gorgon to your side.
• The Harpies’s Lair: Three monstrous, birdlike creatures steal the resources and workers needed to build the Cosmic Gate. Defeat the Harpies and reclaim the treasures in their lair.
• Between Scylla & Charybdis: The legendary monsters leave their narrow strait to terrorize Atlantis’s shores. Satisfy their hunger and calm the waters around the island.

These scenarios add four new mechanisms to the Atlantis Rising experience: Monsters, Allies, Magic Items, and Locations. Together, they expand the dangers facing Atlantis while adding new ways for its leaders to respond.

Whether confronting Medusa’s curse, surviving the Harpies’ raids, or facing Scylla and Charybdis, Atlantis Rising: Monstrosities puts the fate of the civilization in the balance. Can Atlantis withstand the gods’ latest assault and complete its desperate effort to survive?
