About this board game

Black Rose Wars: Rebirth is a highly competitive fantasy game of combat, strategy, and deck-building for 1–4 players, with games lasting around 240 minutes. Set in ancient Italy, it is the second chapter in the Black Rose Wars series and can also be played as a standalone game.

Twenty-five years after the Lodge was destroyed, the Mages return to repair and rebuild it. The Black Rose still imbues every part of the Lodge, and its call brings the Mages together for a tournament to decide the Crown Holder for the following century.

Each player takes the role of a Mage competing to prove themselves the true beholder of the Black Rose’s power. Mages program spells to their boards and execute them in turn order, combining careful planning with tactical decisions on a hexagonal arena.

  • Use spells to disable opposing spells, arm traps, and deal damage.
  • Prepare powerful defensive moves to protect your Mage.
  • Summon otherworldly beasts to support your plans.
  • Position your Mage carefully to set up the perfect move.

The battle rewards foresight, as every action can affect the arena and the plans of other Mages. When a Mage finally succumbs to their wounds, they die and return to their room, disrupting their position and planning—but no Mage is ever permanently removed from the fight.

Black Rose Wars: Rebirth plays with 1–4 players and offers especially strong interaction with more Mages at the table. Expansions add a very large range of options for replayability, while the core game provides a complete new entry point into the Black Rose Wars setting.
