About this expansion

Civilization: A New Dawn – Automatic Civilization adds an Automated Player for 1–3 players, with games lasting about 120 minutes. It provides a dedicated opponent for solo play or for multiplayer games with up to three human players.

The Automated Player, or AP, uses an unused player’s components and focus bar. Its focus row acts as a highly simplified version of the code used to operate AI opponents in the Civilization video games, giving the AP a series of instructions to follow.

On the AP’s turn, it resolves the focus card in the “5” slot of its focus row, then resets that card to the “1” slot. The AP has its own set of unique focus cards, designed specifically to remove decisions from its turn. This lets the automated civilization function without requiring you to play on its behalf.

  • Use an unused player’s components and focus bar for the AP.
  • Resolve the focus card in slot 5, then move it back to slot 1.
  • Play solo or include the AP alongside up to three human players.
  • Use the AP as a rival to manipulate, oppose, or confront.

In multiplayer, the AP creates another civilization competing for position. You can coexist peacefully with it, turn it against your human opponents, or join forces with the other players to divide its territory. The choice is yours.

With its focused card system and streamlined instructions, Civilization: A New Dawn – Automatic Civilization offers a clear way to bring an automated opponent into your game without taking over the AP’s decisions yourself.
