About this expansion

Combat Commander: Battle Pack #2 – Stalingrad is a two-player scenario collection for the Combat Commander: Europe series, with games lasting about 120 minutes. Set on the Eastern Front in late 1942, it portrays German and Soviet forces clashing in and around Stalingrad.

This expansion includes eleven scenarios printed on cardstock, including the multi-scenario “Stand and Die” Campaign Game, which recreates the see-saw battle for Mamayev Kurgan. The pack also adds eight maps and dozens of new counters for the battles.

Stalingrad’s dense urban fighting is supported by several additional rules. These systems introduce new challenges and tactical possibilities across ruined industrial areas, fortified buildings, and contested underground routes.

  • Factories and urban snipers
  • Ongoing melee
  • Rubble, debris, and craters
  • Underground sewer movement
  • The Ampulomet Molotov Launcher

The scenarios range across notable locations and dates, from Spartakovka, the Grain Elevator, and Dolgyi Gully to the Barrikady’s Great Assembly Hall, Lyudnikov’s Island, and Veliki Luki. The collection spans engagements from 23 August 1942 through 14 January 1943, with “Rumanian Defiance” depicting the battle for Obliskaya Airfield.

Combat Commander: Battle Pack #2 – Stalingrad is not a standalone game. Combat Commander: Europe and Combat Commander: Mediterranean are required to play every scenario; seven of the eleven scenarios can be played without Combat Commander: Mediterranean.
