Commands & Colors: Ancients Expansion Pack #6 – The Spartan Army is a two-player expansion with 26 historical scenarios, designed for games lasting around 60 minutes. It covers the period from 669 BC to 338 BC, following Sparta through changing conflicts and shifting power in ancient Greece.

The scenarios begin with Sparta’s early battles against Argive forces and the development of Hoplite armies. The expansion then turns to the war with the Persian Empire, including the battle of Thermopylae in 480 BC, before exploring Sparta’s leading role among the Peloponnesian states during the Peloponnesian Wars.

The campaign of history continues through the battles of the Theban Era and the rise of Macedon, offering a broad look at Sparta’s military story. Across these engagements, the tactics reflect the advantages and limitations of the historical units, their weapons, the terrain, and the events of the period.
