Commands & Colors: Ancients Expansion Pack #3 – The Roman Civil Wars is a two-player expansion for 60-minute games of Commands & Colors: Ancients, released in 2007. It introduces new capabilities for familiar units while preserving the system’s core mechanics.

The Roman legions have evolved into the deadly fighting forces of legend. Medium infantry represents less-experienced legions, while heavy infantry represents veteran legions, and both units gain more flexible battlefield movement.

• Move medium and heavy infantry two hexes without engaging in close combat.
• Move one hex and engage in close combat, while also throwing the pilum.
• Use an additional mounted mapboard designed to connect with the board from Rome vs the Barbarians.
• Apply the new Command rules from Commands & Colors: Epic Ancients to large-scale, multiplayer historical battles.

If you have played Commands & Colors: Ancients, the expansion’s special rules should be easy to learn because the basic mechanics remain unchanged. Battle dice resolve combat quickly, while Command cards introduce luck, create a fog of war, and present players with changing challenges and opportunities for victory.
