Commands & Colors: Napoleonics Expansion #2 – The Russian Army is a two-player Coalition expansion for Commands & Colors: Napoleonics, offering 18 historical scenarios and the Russian units needed to play them. Released in 2013, each battle is designed for an approximately 60-minute game.

This expansion focuses on Russian Army engagements against Napoleon from 1806 to 1814. The scenarios follow a turbulent period that saw Russia confront French power in Poland, defend against the 1812 invasion, and return to the offensive alongside Prussia and Austria.

Russia’s army retained many characteristics of Peter the Great’s regime. Senior officers were largely drawn from aristocratic circles, many lower-level officers were poorly trained, and discipline was enforced through harsh punishment. Yet Russian forces were also capable of astonishing feats and total obedience to orders during conflicts with Sweden, Poland, Turkey, Austria, and France.

The campaign backdrop includes the French drive into Poland after the defeat of Prussia at Jena, the battles that pushed Russian forces back toward their homeland, and the treaty at Tilsit.
