About this board game

Dead of Night is a 1–6 player cooperative zombie survival game that plays in about 90 minutes, with players facing scenarios inspired by zombie films.

There is no Zombie Master directing the undead. Instead, everyone begins on the same side, working together to explore a location and fulfil the scenario’s main objective. Strategy—and plenty of fresh, spicy brains—will be needed alongside chainsaws and shotguns.

Every scenario presents a different challenge and a clear goal, such as escaping in a fuelled-up vehicle. If that objective starts to slip out of reach, simply staying alive may become the only realistic plan. Cards drawn throughout the game can either help your progress or make an already dangerous situation worse.

• Explore a scenario location while pursuing its objective.
• Cooperate with the other survivors—or use them as zombie bait while claiming the guns and securing the cellar.
• Endure escalating danger until the main objective is completed or daybreak arrives.

The night does not get easier as it continues. Things are certain to grow much worse before sunrise, when an advancing army patrol finally brings some respite. The game ends when someone fulfils the main objective or when daybreak arrives.

Surviving to the end makes you a winner, but Dead of Night also gives the survivors individual stakes: the player who best fulfils their objectives comes out on top. Released in 2007, the game is expanded by Mall of the Dead.
