About this board game

Halls of Hegra is a solitaire-only wargame for one player, designed for approximately 90 minutes, in which you command Norwegian volunteers defending an abandoned mountain fortress during the early days of World War II.

Facing numerically superior German forces, you must prepare the fortress, organize your growing force, and make difficult decisions as the conflict escalates. The game combines worker placement, bag building, area control, and tower-defense-style gameplay in a tense solo experience.

Your campaign unfolds across three distinct stages:

  1. Mobilization: Explore the fortress, dig through snow and broken equipment, welcome new recruits, and plan supply routes for the coming siege.
  2. First Attack: Defend the village below the fortress while completing your final preparations. Send patrols behind enemy lines to secure enough supplies.
  3. Siege: Endure constant bombing and infantry attacks while working to keep morale high among your men.

Each stage presents a different aspect of the struggle, from uncovering what the damaged fortress can provide to protecting the village and securing the resources needed for the final defense. Your choices shape how prepared your forces are when the siege begins.

Halls of Hegra focuses on the pressure of commanding a small force against overwhelming opposition. Manage your volunteers, control key areas, gather supplies, and hold the fortress for as long as possible. Will your command survive the siege?
